Both projects are being financed by development aid funds (FAD).

San Juan del Sur is an area with excellent tourism potential on the southwest coast of Nicaragua, 140 km from Managua. The combined projects affect a total of 66,000 inhabitants and will improve their sanitary and health conditions as well as their supply of water in dry months. Furthermore, the projects and their subsequent operations will create direct jobs in these areas and will support the development of their tourism potential as well as improving the living conditions of the population.

Javier Molina, Chairman of Befesa said, "This project strengthens Befesa’s international business as it joins the development aid financing program in developing countries, which allows basic infrastructures to be built thanks to financing at better than market conditions."
