Integrated management of agricultural plastic eesidue (Girpa): new awardings and contracts

Last July 11th. Befesa Plásticos was granted the tender summoned by the Association of Municipalities of the Costa del Sol - la Axarquia (Málaga), for the supply of agricultural plastic residue collection and management services. This residue is produced by the intensive agricultural activity of that area.

The integrated Municipalities and the main producers of agricultural residue are: Algarrobo, Rincón de la Victoria, Torrox and Vélez Málaga. Befesa Plásticos, with the available infrastructure and the acquired experience will manage around 900 tons of used agricultural plastic: greenhouse covering film, mulching, watering pipes, seed beds, shadowing mesh, etc.

On the other hand, Befesa Plásticos signed an agreement on July 24th. with Gesalquivir, S.A., a company specialized in managing residue for the Association of Municipalities of the Bajo Guadalquivir, to manage plastic residue coming from protected crops in the Municipalities of Utrera, Los Palacios and Villafranca, Los Molares, Las Cabezas de San Juan, Lebrija, El Cuervo and El Coronil, in Seville and Trebujena, Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Chipiona and Rota in Cádiz.

Befesa Plásticos has the corresponding specialized and experienced personnel and has the required logistic and mechanical resources (mobile presses and collection trucks) to supply a top quality service which did not exist until now in the agricultural plastic residue management market.

These contracts, already joined in operation with the Bonny, S.A. company, installed in Alicante, Murcia, Almería and Tenerife, as well as with Agrícola Méndez, S.A. and Agrícola Aguileña (Agrasa) in Murcia. They just confirm the need for offering the agriculture market an integrated management service that respects the environment and guarantees the traceability of this type of residue. Befesa Plásticos is a specialized, leading company in Spain in the supply of these integrated management services.
