Yesterday, October 19, the II Congress on "Biodegradable and Compost Wastes" was inaugurated with a reception organized by Befesa in the Hospital de los Venerables, the headquarters of the Focus-Abengoa Foundation.

The event was attended by the Director General for Quality and Environmental Assessment of the Ministry of the Environment, Mr. Jaime Alejandre, the Director General for Prevention and Environmental Quality of the Department of the Environment of the Regional Government of Andalusia, Ms. Esperanza Caro Gomez, and Ms. Anabel Morillo Leon, Director General of the Focus-Abengoa Foundation. At the inauguration ceremony, Befesa’s chairman Mr. Javier Molina Montes welcomed the participants and emphasized how important Corporate Social Responsibility is to Abengoa, that is to say, its commitment to ensuring economic and social progress, and thereby contributing to the preservation of the environment. A clear example of this commitment by Befesa is the company’s current leading position in everything related with the treatment of Industrial Wastes.

In addition to the different transfer plants and hazardous waste safety deposits, Befesa carries out important works in the non-hazardous waste sector, where it manages two transfer plants located in Ajalvir (Madrid) and Alcala de Guadaira (Seville), and three compost plants in Utrera (Seville), Torija (Guadalajara), and Gador (Almeria). Furthermore, Befesa has recently been registered by the Autonomous Community of Madrid as a Marketing Company for the Application of Sludge in Agriculture.
