Result of the Befesa Photo Contest 2014

At last we know the winners of the 3rd Befesa Photography Competition. The members of the jury have voted on the composition, creativity and technique of the entries, without knowing the identity of the participants.

The jury was made up of people from Befesa’s corporate services.

The first prize of €600 in each category has been awarded to:

1. Befesa and nature:

  • Stephen Rabe of Befesa Zinc Freiberg, for the photo entitled “Animals also like the new Waelz furnace in Korea”. Stephen says that the photo was taken in South Korea during the commissioning of the Befesa Zinc Korea plant.

2. Befesa and its people

  • Montserrat Muñoz del Barrio of Befesa Aluminio (Valladolid centre) with her photo “EPI Befesio”. Montse explains that this peculiar worker has been, “created by the Befesa Aluminio laboratory team at the plant in Valladolid and is the best equipped EH&S employee. An example to everyone”.

3. Befesa and its facilities

  • Francisco Delgado Salas from BGRI (Nerva centre), who captured a view of the Nerva landfill site from the “Chimenea de Pirita”.

Furthermore, due to the quality of the photographs submitted, the jury has also decided to award a second prize of €200 to the following people:

1. Befesa and nature:

  • Rainer Goehringer of Befesa Management Services in Ratingen, who says, “I took this photo close to the Freiberg plant, in the Erzgebirge region of Germany. I took it because I liked the motif, the contrasts, the peacefulness and the darkness that emanates from the depths of the forest. It reminds me of the Brothers Grimm stories, at the start of what could be another adventure in the woods”.

2. Befesa and its people

  • José Alberto Fernández González of Befesa Zinc Aser (Spain), who submitted his photo “Too hot”, comments that the furnace needs to be cooled when carrying out maintenance operations.

3. Befesa and its facilities

  • Carlos Ruiz de Veye of Befesa Aluminio submitted the photo “Befesa at night”, which shows a view of the Befesa Valorización de Azufre plant in the port of Bilbao.
