Fertiberia awards Befesa a contract to design and construct an industrial waste treatment plant in Huelva

Befesa Agua has been awarded the contract to design and construct an industrial waste treatment plant at the Fertiberia factory in Huelva (Spain), worth more than three million euros.

The technological process used in the plant will be a new physical-chemical process that allows fluorides, phosphates, ammonia, and metals such as arsenic, copper, aluminium, cadmium, mercury, zinc, nickel, chrome, lead and titanium all to be removed. The facility will be designed to treat 125 cubic metres per hour, allowing it to provide a quality of exit waste higher than that required by the Waters Act (Ley de Aguas).

This solution, which forms part of the environmental regeneration action plan that Fertiberia is carrying out in Marismas del Rincón, will give the company the power to treat acidic water from the phosphogypsum stack ponds.

Befesa Agua has carried out numerous projects in the industrial waste market, especially for treating waste treatment and process waters, sectors in which it leads.

Fertiberia is the leading company in the fertilizer sector in Spain and by production volume it is also one of the leading firms in the European Union.
