The Nerva Industrial Waste Centre grants its annual sponsorship to local sports clubs and entities

Nerva (Huelva), 12 February 2010. Nicolás Chaves Morales, General Manager of Nerva Centre of Befesa Industrial Waste Management, today announced the granting of sponsorship worth 12,900 Euros to eight groups in Nerva. The sponsorship forms part of the annual aid program awarded to local associations by the industrial waste centre owned by the company in this municipality. The event took place in the auditorium of the Manuel Rojas music conservatory, one of the entities that receive the subsidies.

The beneficiaries are the Nerva Football Club, the Nerva Handball Club and the Nerva Basketball Club, the Athenea Association for the Disabled and the NGO "Ayuda al Pueblo Saharaui" (Aid for the Saharans), which will receive 1,000 Euros each. The centre is also contributing 1,200 Euros for a competition at the music conservatory, 300 Euros for the children's party of the "Pirulitos" neighbours' association, 400 Euros to Nervae magazine published by the town hall, and 6,000 Euros for the organisation of the environmental protection conferences organised by the University of Huelva, CIECEM (the international centre for environmental and ecological studies and conferences) and the headquarters of the Civil Guard in Huelva.

The ceremony to present the cheques was attended by representatives from all of the groups sponsored by Befesa, as well as the local councillor for culture, Miguel Ángel Harriero. In his speech, Nicolás Chaves said that "despite the crisis, Befesa will continue to give its financial support to the associations of Nerva". The Manager of the centre said that the company "feels part of the town and wants to demonstrate its involvement by supporting as many initiatives as possible".
